Lynn community to construct eruv
LYNN — Congregation Ahabat Sholom is announcing the construction of the Lynn Eruv, which will be a component of (although not physically contiguous with) the Greater Boston Eruv Corporation, a 501-c (3) nonprofit organization registered in Massachusetts. The congregation was established in 1901 and was the first Orthodox synagogue north of Boston. At the time, the Diamond District (also known as the “Gold Coast”), where the shul is located, was a waterfront vacation haven where the executives of the shoe industry built summer mansions. Now a year-round community, the area features nearby kosher shopping with public transportation and new roads to Boston. One can see the Atlantic Ocean from the steps of the shul and it is only a small walk to say tashlich. The shul’s rabbi, Avraham Kelman received his smirches from Rabbi Soleveitchik and is a graduate of Yeshiva University, community mikveh is located the premises. As a member of the Union and an established congregation with a growing population of Russian Jews, Ahabat would like to welcome families to become members to come visit.
